…@UpperLefty. Yep, I've joined the ranks of twitterers, or twitists, or whatever it is that I seem to have become. Here's the news that finally brought me into the fold...

...Jesse Lee will move from the new media department into a role in the communications department as Director of Progressive Media & Online Response...

…and the official White House Twitter account that Jesse got with the job.

I've followed Jesse from the D-Trip to the Speaker's office to the White House, and now into the twittersphere. I don't know how much I'll be contributing to the fray over there, but I'll probably find a few more folks to follow. Any suggestions from the veteran twitites among y'all?

…and certainly not Robert Gibbs, has ever heard me say that Barack Obama is anything like George Bush, an idea which is, in fact, crazy, I figure Gibbs wasn't talking about me. I'm about as liberal a member of the base as you'll find in most precincts, so I don't think he was talking about liberals or the base, either. "Inartful" is probably an apt description of his comments, but the brush he used wasn't really all that broad.

What's kind of surprising is that so many people want to believe he was talking about them.

Some of y'all, frankly, ain't all that.

Me neither, of course.

Congrats, Jesse & Nita!

Jesse Lee has been a friend of this blog throughout his journey from the D-Trip to the Speaker's office and now the White House. He's nothing less than the best damn institutional blogger in the biz. He has, apparently, other charms unknown to me but appealing to MoveOn's Nita Chaudhary, who said yes when he used the occasion of the state dinner for the Indian Prime Minister to propose marriage.

By the way, I don't think I've used this space to congratulate Jesse on the White House job. Institutional blogging is a tough gig, and frankly, not many do it well. No one does it better than Jesse. I've followed his path from the D-trip to the Speaker's office and now to Pennsylvania Avenue, and wherever he goes, a blog worth a bookmark appears.

The President's lucky to have him. They all were. We all are.
