Forgive me to pointing this out, but the monies for the General and Chrysler started to flow while GW was still president; and for the record, I never voted for him (as you know, Shaun). Heck, even Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI) voted for TARP, since among other things, there was a SUV factory in Jainesville, Wisconsin. (It's now reopened and there's your point.)

I was trying to explain, the other night, to a friend who's a big believer in "creative destruction," as it's called in some circles, that if GM and Chrysler had been allowed to go into bankruptcy, with no plan in place to bring 'em out right away, calm Wall Street and keep the parts suppliers in business, as the former president (GW) himself said recently, at the NADA (National Auto Dealers Association) convention, unemployment would've hit 21 percent. Of course, my friend has never worked in a factory or saw mill (as I did one summer), so he probably doesn't factor that into his world view.

As Eric Hoffer wrote, the True Believers never have open minds.
