So, if all we get out of the deal...
...is an increase in the debt ceiling, isn't that pretty much all we wanted?
Might be something to that mulit-dimensional chess stuff after all...

Mitch McConnell does nothing wihtout purpose. When he was trying to get John McCain to hang himself with campaign finance reform, Senator McConnell ensured all the rope necessary. The same thing is probably going on here.
He wants the president to have massive debt hanging over all our heads, at the end of the year; that's when the current extensions to so many people's unemployment will run out. Sad to say, the senator and his GOP minions will probably not enact a level 5, for those with 99 weeks of UI.
Yes, he is willing to make Americans desperate, in the hope that they will in the hysteria that is brought on, vote for anyone but the president. Is that good for the country? Of course it isn't. Is it good for the GOP? Well, Mitch McConnell is hoping so. That's the kind of guy he is: doesn't care about the country, just his party, his job and all that goes with it.
