Blind Melon - No Rain
Note: Gil Scott-Heron as a poet (and former English professor) who had his poems set to music, really helped create what is now called either "rap" or "hip-hop." He was quoted as saying it's just that his poetry, as structured lent itself to music; and things came together as the result of where music was headed, at the time (1970s), but he was too humble.
I was fortunate to see him, in Seattle, in early 1976. He had a presence and a helluva back-up band. He was unique and someone that other can only try to emulate.
