I don't understand enough about the nature and effect of rads to know how bad this actually is, but I can't imagine it's good.

It's a fake that some anonymous jerk pulled out of his ass. The symbol on it was swiped from an outfit called Australian Radiation Services. ARS has prominently posted an announcement on their website (http://www.australian-radiation-services.com.au) refuting the graphic, but as I type this up, said website may or may not be available; they're probably getting swamped by people trying to visit it.

It's a rare occasion when I agree with you, and I always feel as if I should comment when I do.
I don't understand any of this 'rad' stuff, either, but I also feel that it can't be good.

Perspective - many of us grew up in the days of open-air nuclear testing. Not that it's any reassurance but Nevada is a lot closer to where I grew up than is Japan...
