A writer for the New York Times Review of Books, in a piece in which he reviewed several new books on Glen Beck, compared him to the fictional character of Elmer Gantry; as the man presented himself at that rally he had in the other Washington, at the end of August.
While I've never met Mr. Beck, and have only heard him once on the radio, from what I gather, I believe that's a pretty accurate comparison. He's nothing more than a conman who has hit the jackpot and wants to keep the money flowing, as long as he can. Sad to say, he is living what seems to be the American dream for many folks, which is just that.
In fairness, he might believe some of that nonsense he spouts, but how much is anyone's guess.
