(Not) The truth.

Venture capitalist Nick Hanauer, via the NPI Advocate
If it was true, what they say about taxes, then the best opportunities would be in the places with the least taxes... like Somalia. But it's not true, is it? Is it? It's not true. The best opportunities to create great wealth, in this country — and in the world — are in high-tax places.
OK, that last bit is the truth, but the first part? Nope.

Nick Hanauer's statement seems to be asserting that there is cause and effect between high-taxes and great wealth; maybe that is more than just seems to do that. It does.

That seems silly, especially when he immediately than jumps to Somalia as an example of the worst case scenario. Taxes are low in Switzerland, too, from what one hears tell. (Personally haven't lived there.)

There's got to be a middle ground regarding taxes. That's the place most people are seeking. You don't have to be a Tea Party fanatic to be a bit skeptical about a proposed state income tax, especially when it is being pushed by people who will use their tax attornies to find the ways to pay the absolute least.
