Will Durst...
Conservatives know the importance of banding together to do whatever it takes: lie, cheat, steal, obstruct. Progressives, on the other hand, need to be goosed to get off the couch when it’s on fire.I'm afraid so.
Hat tip to Gordon, who has an extended excerpt of the rant. I might not say it the same way myself, but...

If Barrack Obama were not elected president, I would be more concerned about the "enthusiasm gap". But we did elect him, so we got off the couch. There will be changes in the legislature, but I seriously doubt a GOP tsunami. Motivating the electorate has always been a midterm challenge. Democrats have been prematurely lambasted for not caring. Like I said, we call him President Obama.
I share your doubts about Republican prospects, or optimism about Democratic ones, if you will, but there is an element that views themselves as a left opposition, as it were, to the Party. Folks who always refer to the Party in the third person, for instance. At any rate, they seem to expect a certain level of obesiance in return for their presumably invaluable support.
Hope they get aboard, but it means a lot more for folks like you and I to get their neighbors out to vote, and out to vote right.
