The last Clancy Brother.
September 2, 1935 - December 4, 2009
R.I.P.
O, all the comrades e'er I had,
They're sorry for my going away.
And all the sweethearts e'er I had,
They'd wished me one more day to stay.
But since it falls unto my lot,
That I should rise and you should not,
I gently rise and softly call,
Goodnight and joy be with you all.

When I lived in Portsmouth NH, I'd see Tommy Makem around town every once in a while. He'd lived for many years in neighboring Dover, and was widely admired by one and all.
Here's a tribute to Tommy after his death, from the local newspaper in his adopted home.
