Good question.

Tom Harper wonders...
And who exactly still listens to the GOP weekly address? Does their audience include ANYBODY whose parents aren’t first cousins???
Well?

This reminds one of what might become a new Jeff Foxworthy routine.

I hope it hasn't really come to that, not because the Grand Old Party is any great shakes; but because it does help to have more than one active political party in a country.

But yes, it does seem that the Republican party's march into irrelevancy continues; with no replacement in sight.

The Libertarian party calls itself - according to a recent press release advocating an "approve" vote for R-71 in Washington State - the "third largest political party in the country."

I'll leave it to someone else to comment on the meaning of that.

As for the Green party, let's just say that it isn't as big a deal in the States, as it is - maybe was - in the place where it started. Which was Germany.

What's that leave us with? The answer seems to be: a few diehard members of the American Communist party, some true believers in the socialist ideal and, as always, the fans of Lyndon LaRouche.

Somehow, it makes one think the Democratic party isn't really worried about the mid-term elections. Why should it be? That's a rhetorical question, if you don't know.

Thanks for the mention.

And I agree with Terry; we need to have a viable 2-party system. If the Democrats get too entrenched, they'll become just as corrupt and unaccountable as the Republicans have been.
