Eight more reasons…

…that the right way in Afghanistan is out.
KABUL (AP) -- Eight American troops were killed in two separate bomb attacks Tuesday in southern Afghanistan, making October the deadliest month of the war for U.S. forces since the 2001 invasion to oust the Taliban.
Damn.

Making it bigger won't make it better.

"Transcripts of Defeat," an Op-ed piece by Victor Sebestyen, in the Oct. 28, 2009 New York Times is recommended reading for the president; and anyone else who thinks America can pull off anything different than what the former U.S.S.R. did, circa Christmas of 1979 until they pulled out in '89.

The Soviets tried to prop up a puppet government and became the target of the mujihideen (aka, "Freedom fighters" in the parlance of former Texas Congressman - D - Charlie Wilson).

Now, America's president and the government around him feels it can beat the odds; by propping up a puppet government against the inheritors of the mujihideen's fight against "the infidels," the Taliban.

Maybe someone should remind President Obama of the wisdom of that saying, "Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it."

But that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.
