After watching the president's press conference last night, it would seem that Congress would have to bring back the late 1990s tax rates, if for no other reason, than to pay for national health care.
The president talked about that, when he ran; and of course it led to that nonsensical debate of whether making a quarter million per annum, made one "rich."
The president made a good pitch for his ideas, last night. Even Charles Krauthammer, as part of the FOX rebuttal team, acknowledged that. (I watched the speech and some of the rebuttal at the Comcast booth in the Northgate mall, with two television screens, one set to FOX and the other to MSNBC.) When a guy such as Krauthammer - ideologically the polar opposite of the president - gives praise, it seems it is probably close to a done deal.
