…it sounds like Obama got it right, but…

Graphical hat tip to SamGrace, who, I'm sure, would encourage you to spread it around. There's a range of sizes and styles here.

Ruth Bennett, a Libertarian lady I know, who also happens to be a lesbian in a committed relationship, thinks there might be another way to go: get the government out of the marriage business. She believes that everyone who wants to be legally joined, should just be issued a civil committment paper. Then, let the churchs, temples, synagoges (sic) and mosques issue marriage certificates, as they will.

It might be a chicken approach, or it might finally be an end run around the issue. Of course, you know that the Bible thumpers will say, "They cheated us out of marriage" or some such nonsense. So maybe there is no final solution - other than marriage for all who want it.

Personally, I have never been married; but the older I get, the nicer an idea it seems. But not being like the late Tony Randall, I think I'm just stuck with a cat - not such a bad deal. My cat has gotten so used to my incessant chattering, especially in the morning, he tries to talk back, mewling louder as if to say, "Calm down."

Most of my old girlfriends just got tired of the anxiety and moved on.

So anyone who wants to be married, I support and respect.
