A point to ponder...

...via The Mep Report...
The Dutch, well known for their allowance of casual drug use and incredibly low resulting addiction rate, have found that they no longer have enough criminals to keep their prisons at capacity.

The Dutch have announced a closing of eight prisons as well as a new initiative to import Belgian criminals to fill cell vacancies.

Some accounts say that up to one-third of those in American prisons are there for non-violent, drug-related offenses. It would be a great thing if what has occurred to the Dutch, might happen here in the States.

At the very least, it might allow more room to keep those in prison who are violent. The fellow in Seattle, who recently (finally) was convicted of murder, for a rape and murder he committed back in 2004, after being let out of prison, might finally be successfully warehoused.
