In 2005, $4.81 in federal funds came to Alaska for every $1.00 paid by Alaskans.I don't begrudge them the bucks, really. They doubtless need, and arguably deserve all the help we can give. Just don't give me any tales of rugged individualism and frontier entrepreneurs, though. Alaska might best be described as, well, as a massive scheme for the one of the greatest transfers of wealth in history. Transferred, mostly, from us to them.
I wonder, too, if Governor Palin favors a federal excess profits tax on big oil like the one she collects at home?
