Enough already.

Lifted from a post by Steve Sotos at The Left Coaster, this fawning appraisal by Ms. Rice.
"When you think of statesmen, you think of people who seized historic opportunities to change the world for the better, people like Roosevelt, people like Churchill, and people like Truman, who understood the challenges of communism. And this president has been an agent of change for the better -- historic change for the better."
Steve figures she's delusional, so perhaps I should cut her some slack, but I'm just sick to death of Republican politicians appropriating our Democratic icons for their purposes. I suppose Churchill belongs to the world, but FDR and Truman should be off limits to Republican pandering.

Why don't they ever invoke some of the great GOP Presidents of the 20th Century? Why not compare Bush's economic brilliance to President Hoover's, or his steady leadership to Dick Nixon's? How 'bout Papa Bush? Doesn't he deserve a shout out from the new Republican leadership? Could it be that they can't find a single Republican President to serve as a model "agent of change for the better"?

Well, no they can't. Because they've never had one, and they don't have one now.

Enough already.
