Yes We Can!

There's a terrific outline of the DSCC strategy for recapturing the US Senate over at From The Roots. In a nutshell, we start with a base of 40 (30 seats not up and 10 considered generally safe). We protect our challenged incumbents in South Dakota, California, Washington and Wisconsin (all of whom lead in the latest polls).

That gets us to 44. The good news? Democrats are ahead 6 of the 8 open seats (with Colorado on the open list), and Tony Knowles is ahead in Alaska (the DSCC counts it as open, too, since the incumbent was a mid-term appointee). That's 7 more, for a 51 vote majority.

They're not done there, though. Pennsylvania, Missouri, Kentucky, Kansas and New Hampshire are counted as real battlegrounds, where we have strong chances to take out the Republican incumbents and build toward a 60 vote veto proof majority.

We can have a Democratic government in Washington, DC.

Si Se Puede!
