South Dakota Special
The South Dakota Democratic Central Committee acted unanimously to put Stephanie Herseth's name on the June 1 Special Election ballot for U.S. Congress. It was a natural choice. She had run a strong race as a challenger in 2002, and she's the product of one of South Dakota's great Democratic families (her grandfather was Governor, her grandmother was Secretary of State and her father was a 20 year State Legislator).
Herseth has her own long list of positive qualities, which you can examine at length on her website, but I want to share some key points about the troglodyte the Republicans are throwing up against her. State Senator Larry Diedrich offers a smorgasboard of issues including making the first and second round of President Bush's tax cuts permanent, right-to-work laws, allowing the Ten Commandments in schools, limiting protection for people injured by medical malpractice and, oh yeah, even more tax cuts. He's truly worthy of defeat.
And Stephanie Herseth is truly deserving of a win - a win that would make Democrats 2 for 2 in '04. Support of a tangible nature can be offered here.
