I was in High School when Sputnik went up, and the push then for math and science was very powerful. I was one of only 2 girls in Physics, and the only one in Drafting.
But I wondered whether the general population even knew what the Sputnik moment was.
I follow you on ExposeYourBlog.
The general population doesn't know a lot of things, I'm afraid, and knows a lot of things that aren't so, of which I'm a bit more afraid.
Those who do know, though, will, like you, remember an extraordinary committment of resources to a common purpose. Sounds like something we could use today.
