AUSTIN — Eight years after former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay helped engineer a Republican takeover of the Texas House and state congressional delegation, a Travis County jury Wednesday convicted him of felony money laundering in the 2002 elections.Oh frabjous day!

The only part that bothers me is the delay, "Eight years after...". The Chinese are much more impatient for justice. I think it has something to do with deterring future thuggish behavior on the part of proteges. Now I'll smile for a while, knowing we already have our future DeLay in waiting. I think it's been six years since the indictments, actually. The delay (ahem) is a blessing of sorts in this case, since the election of a new prosecutor tempered DeLay's persecution argument.
