Hmmm... seems a lot of current publishers might benefit from a refresher course in this.

Truth, like beauty, is oftentimes in the eye of the beholder. The emerging popularity of Glenn Beck testifies to that.

Publishers, especially the new breed that publishes only on the Internet, care less about truth in any verifiable form, and more so only in legalistic terms; and even since suing anyone who publishes solely on the Internet, is almost always a losing proposition, the proverbial genie seems out of the bottle.

All suing an Internet site that specializes in half-truths - probably half of those on-line - accomplishes is to ensure even more readers; such as people read these days - a screen of copy is about it.

Just look at what half-truths, published by a half-wit did for a man named Drudge. Or in more of a niche realm, what The Truth about Cars.com did for Robert Farago; recently "resigned" according to AutoWriters.com from his position as lead writer and editor of features such as the "GM Death Watch" or the "Chrysler Suicide Watch."

If Adlai Stevenson was still with us, he'd shrug and wonder about the future of democracy in America. Those of us who are around, should perhaps be filled with anxiety, if not outright fear.
